Bio

2023-2024 Season: Akiyah was a key contributor to the Lady Bears program, playing in 23 games and starting 20 as a forward. She scored a total of 165 points, collected 147 rebounds,  contributed 14 assists, recorded 22 steals, and 23 blocks.

High School: Akiyah Carnes attended Livonia High School, where she played basketball under Head Coach Hannah Kador. She served as the captain of her Lady Wildcats basketball team for one year. During her high school career, she was named All-District First Team and the All-Defensive Team. In addition to basketball, she also played volleyball and ran track for the Wildcats.

Personal: Akiyah's hometown is Ventress, LA. She is the daughter of Andrew Carnes and Wendy Joseph and has one sister, Amari, along with two brothers, Dallas and Andrew Jr.   Akiyah is majoring in Sports Medicine at BRCC and aspires to become a physical therapist. Her favorite athletes are Simone Biles and Nia Jax. Her favorite food is shrimp fettuccine, and her go-to snack is popcorn. Akiyah dreams of vacationing in Dubai. The person she admires most is her mother for all she has accomplished and overcome in her life.
