Wednesday February 19, 2020: Women's Basketball

Head Coach Paula Lee has been waiting all season for her ball club to put together a complete game and it was tonight in the Bears Den that she got to see just that.  The Lady Bears dominated all phases of the game as they would defeat the Southern Shreveport Lady Jags 90 to 53.

It was sophomore night and the atmosphere was electric in the Bears Den.  The Lady Bears feed off that energy early as they would outscore the Lady Jags 7 to 3, in the first five minutes of the quarter. A'Zia Reed scored 10 of the Lady Bears 17 first quarter points.  At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bears held a 17 to 9 lead over the Lady Jags.

In the second quarter, the Lady Bears continued their pressure on the Lady Jags forcing them into some bad shots.  The Lady Bears would also get major contributions from their bench all night and especially in the second quarter.  At halftime, the Lady Bears led 46 to 24.

The second half was a carbon copy of the first half for Baton Rouge.  The Lady Bears continued to pressure the Lady Jags on the defensive end and continued their hot shooting on the offensive end. The Lady Bears outscored the Lady Jags  44 to 29 in the second half to earn the 90 to 53 conference victory.

The Lady Bears were led in scoring by Sophomore forward A'Zia Reed with a game high 24 points. Southern Shreveport Lady Jags were led in scoring by Ah'Million Cosby with 17 points.

The Lady Bears finish the 2019-2020 with a record of 9-16 and 4-5 in LCCAC play.

Lady Bears Highlights:

A'Zia Reed led all Lady Bears with 24 points

Desrael Schnyder scored 14 points

Bailey Antoine added 11 points

Before the game the Lady Bears recognized four sophomores for their hard work and dedication to the Lady Bears Basketball Program.  Those four sophomores were Guard Bailey Antoine, Forward A'Zia Reed, Forward Malaya Spears and Forward Desrael Schnyder.
