Bio

Jada Walton brings a wealth of basketball experience to Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) as she embarks on her first year as a coach. Recently concluding a successful coaching stint at Otero College, where she contributed significantly to the Lady Rattlers' defensive strategies and player development, Jada helped lead the team to a commendable second-place finish in South Subdivision Region IX. While at Otero College, Jada coached the Region IX Defense player of the year, two players received All Region honors, and also had two players receive Region IX All-Tournament team honors. Four of the seven sophomores continued on with their academic and athletic careers and a four year school (DI & DII).

Jada's coaching journey follows an illustrious academic and athletic career. She earned her master's degree in Sport Management from Troy University, where she was a proud member of the women's basketball team. During her time at Troy from 2021 to 2023, Jada played a pivotal role in securing a regular-season Sun Belt Conference Championship in 2022. During her time as the Team Caption (2022-23) season, Jada help lead her team to a post season WNIT appearance where she averaged 7.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists during that season. 

Prior to Troy, Jada attended Texas Tech University, where she earned her bachelor's degree and was a member of the women's basketball team from 2019 to 2021. Despite facing challenges such as NCAA transfer rules and a season-ending injury, Jada's determination and commitment were unwavering although she never got to compete.

Her collegiate journey began at Texas A&M University from 2017 to 2019, where she made significant postseason appearances, including two NCAA Sweet 16 berths. At Texas A&M, Jada garnered numerous accolades, including the team defensive and academic awards, showcasing her dedication both on and off the court. Played in 32 games, starting two, and used as the team’s defensive stopper in 2018-19 and led or co-led the A&M bench in points, rebounds,blocks and steals during the 2018-19 season. Averaged 4.0 points, 2.5 assists and 3.0 steals in the Aggie’s’ 2019 tournament run. 

A native of Lithonia, Georgia, Jada Walton honed her skills at Southwest Dekalb High School, where she was a standout starter for the Lady Panthers varsity basketball team. Ranked as the No. 30 guard in her signing class, Jada helped Southwest DeKalb to a 79-17 record as a four-year starter. Named Dekalb County 2016-17 Player of the Year by Atlanta Journal-Constitution, after averaging 14.1 points and 5.3 rebounds as a senior. Named to the All-Metro Atlanta Third Team by Atlanta Tipoff Club in 2017.. Earned All-Metro honors from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for the 2014-15, 2015-16, and 2016-17 seasons ... Helped Southwest DeKalb to the 2016 Georgia 5A State Title, while averaging 12.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists .

As she joins BRCC, Jada Walton is poised to inspire and guide the next generation of basketball talent, bringing her expertise, passion for the game, and a proven track record of success to the Bears' coaching staff.
