The Baton Rouge Lady Bears faced off against the Delgado Lady Dolphins this afternoon in a LCCAC game at the Williamson Center on the campus of Delgado Community College. The Lady Bears utilized a strong first quarter and solid defensive play to defeat the Lady Dolphins 78-59.
The game was competitive in the first few minutes, with both teams trading baskets. With 5:31 left in the first quarter, the score was tied at 12. The Lady Bears then went on an impressive 18-4 run to finish the quarter, leading 30-16. This surge was fueled by DeZarae Stewart, Shelcie LeBlanc, J'Nyria Kelly, and Chance Moland.
In the second quarter, the Lady Dolphins found some offensive rhythm and cut the deficit to eight points, trailing 33-25 with 5:56 remaining. Despite outscoring the Lady Bears 18-15 in this quarter, the Lady Bears maintained a 45-34 lead at halftime.
The Lady Bears continued their momentum, outscoring the Lady Dolphins 33-25 in the combined third and fourth quarters, ultimately securing a 78-59 victory.
DeZarae Stewart led the Lady Bears with a game-high 21 points. Three Lady Bears scored in double figures—Stewart, LeBlanc, and Kelly. Miracle Irving was the top scorer for the Lady Dolphins with 19 points, and two Lady Dolphins scored in double figures.

With this victory, the Lady Bears improved their record to 11-6 (3-1), while the Lady Dolphins fell to 1-17 (0-4) on the season. Baton Rouge leads the all-time series against Delgado with 37 wins to 11 losses.
The Lady Bears will travel to Eunice, Louisiana, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, to take on the LSUE Lady Bengals in a conference matchup. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM at the HPRE Center.
