Lady Bears finish the regular season with a victory over the Lady Dolphins

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears concluded the regular season  tonight with a conference match up against the Delgado Lady Dolphins, in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center. The Lady Bears would start out sluggish but finish strong for the 65 to 47 regular season finale victory over the Delgado Lady Dolphins.

In the opening minutes of the first half the Lady Bears were very sluggish on both end of the floor. After the game was tied at seven with 4:02, the Lady Bears used some aggressive defense to fuel their offense.  The Lady Bears would close out the first quarter on an 8 to 2 run to take a 15 to 9 lead.

In the second quarter, the Lady Bears would grow their lead to 10 points with 4 minutes remaining. The Lady Dolphins would close out the final two minutes on a 7-4 run to close the gap to 28-21. Baton Rouge would outscore Delgado 14 to 12, in the second quarter.

The third quarter was a back-and-forth game between the two ball clubs. The Lady Dolphins would outscore the Lady Bears 19 to 17 but still trailed heading into the fourth quarter;45-40.

In the fourth quarter, the Baton Rouge Lady Bears would hold the Lady Dolphins to only 7 points. The Lady Bears would get contributions on the offensive end from a variety of different Lady Bears. In the end the Lady Bears would defeat the Lady Dolphins 65 to 47.

 

The Lady Bears were led in scoring by freshman guard Alanna Donaldson with 17 points. Skylar Davis led the Lady Dolphins with 18 points.

 

The Lady Bears finish the regular season with a 16-7 record, 8-1, while the Delgado Lady Dolphins fall to 7-14, 2-7 on the season.

 

Lady Bears Game Highlights:

Alanna Donaldson led the Lady Bears with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 5 charges.

Angel Bradford added 16 points with 2 rebounds, and 1 assist

Tronayia Issac and An'Tiesha Griffin each added 8 points.

 

Before the game, the Lady Bears honored the following student athlete for their committed and dedication to the program over the past few seasons: An'Tiesha Griffin, Tronyia Issac, Franderka Keller and Kirstin Journett.

 

The Lady Bears will host a Region XXIII tournament playoff game this Monday February 28 in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center versus the East Central Community College Lady Warriors. The Lady Bears are the #5 seed in the Region XXIII tournament due to winning their conference championship.
