The Baton Rouge Lady Bears traveled up north to Shreveport to take on the Southern Shreveport Lady Jags, this afternoon at Northwood High School. It was not pretty but the Lady Bears did enough to capture the 68 to 42 victory. With the victory the Lady Bears officially clinch the regular season conference title.
In the first quarter, the game was tied twice, in the early minutes. After the game was tied at 4 with 5:58 remaining, the Lady Bears would go on a 11-0 run to grow their lead to eleven points, 15 to 4. Freshman guard Alanna Donaldson would score 10 of the Bears 22 first quarter points. The Lady Bears, despite playing very sloppy on both ends of the floor would outscore the Lady Jags 22 to 9.
In the second quarter, the Lady Jags would open the quarter on a 12- 6 run to pull within seven; 28-21 with 4:49 remaining. The Lady Bears would get some things together on the offensive end to close out the quarter on a 7- 5 run to take a 35-26 lead into the half.
In the third quarter, the Lady were more aggressive on the defensive end limiting the Lady Jags to only six points, in the quarter. The Lady Bears offense was paced by Sophomores' An' Tiesha Griffin and Tronayia Issac and Freshman Monique Patterson. The Lady Bear outscored the Lady Jags 20 to 6, in the quarter, to extend their lead to 23 points; 55-32.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Bears would maintain their lead and outscore the Lady Jags 13 to 10. The Baton Rouge Lady Bears would secure the 68 to 42 victory over the Southern Shreveport Lady Jags. The Lady Bears sweep the Lady Jags in conference play this season.
Alanna Donaldson led the Lady Bears with 13 points. Charneshia Collins led the Lady Jags with 11 points.
With the victory the Baton Rouge Lady Bears improve to 15-7, 7-1 while the Southern Shreveport Lady Jags fall to 2-17, 0-7 on the season.

Alanna Donaldson led all Lady Bears with 13 points, 1 rebound, 5 assist and 4 steals
An' Tiesha Griffin added 12 points with 6 rebounds, 6 assist and 4 steals
Tronayia Issac scored 8 points with 8 rebounds, and 1 assist
The Baton Rouge Lady Bears will finish the regular season at home this Wednesday February 23 at 5:30 pm in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center. In this game, the Lady Bears will honor their sophomores. Frandreka Keller, Kirstin Journet, An' Tiesha Griffin and Tronayia Issac will play their final regular season game in the Bears Den this Wednesday.
