Lady Bears dominate from start to finish for the conference victory over SUSLA

The Lady Bears would dominate from start to finish of Wednesday conference game, in the Bears Den, against the Southern Shreveport Lady Jags. The Lady Bears took pride tonight on the defensive end of the floor which led them to a dominating 92 to 23 conference victory over the Southern Shreveport Lady Jags.

In the first quarter, Baton Rouge Lady Bears were very active on the defensive end of the floor.  They started the game in a full court press which produced multiple turnovers and transition buckets. The active aggressive defense of the Lady Bears forced the Lady Jags to be out of sync on the offensive end of the floor.  The Lady Bears outscored the Lady Jags 29 to 10, in the quarter.

In the second quarter, the Lady Bears continued their aggressive defense.  They also controlled the offensive boards capitalizing on second chance opportunities. The Lady Bears limited the Lady Jags to only six points in the quarter.  At the half, the Lady Bears led 44 to 16.

In the third quarter, the Lady Bears broke away from the full court press but remained active in their half court defense limiting the Lady Jags to only 3 third quarter points.  The Lady Bears got good production from their bench, in the third and fourth quarters. The Lady Bears bench scored 58 of the Lady Bears' 92 points. Also, every Lady Bear that played tonight scored at least 2 points. The Lady Bears outscored the Lady Jags 20 to 3, in the quarter, to increase their lead to 45; 64 to 19 at the end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter was like the whole game for the Lady Bears.  They continued to be aggressive on the defensive end, forcing the Lady Jags into multiple turnovers and kept them off balance on the offensive end.  The Lady Bears continued their hot streak on the offensive end outscoring the Lady Jags 28 to 4, in the fourth quarter. The Lady Bears led from start to finish to earn the 92 to 23 conference victory over the Southern Shreveport Lady Jags.

Freshman guard Ayleyah Winn led the Lady Bears with 12 points. Southern Shreveport was led in scoring by I. Beh with 7 points.

With the victory the Lady Bears improve to12-7, 4-1 in conference play.

Angel Bradford and Monique Patterson each scored 10 points.

Verd Fontaine and An' Tiesha Griffin added 8 apiece.

 

The Baton Rouge Lady Bears will travel to New Orleans this Saturday to take on the Delgado Lady Dolphins at 2 pm in the Michael Williamson Center.
