It was a rematch of the opening round of conference play this afternoon on the Cajun Prairie between the Baton Rouge Lady Bears and the LSUE Lady Bengals. Like the first meeting it was a battle between the two team, but this time the LSUE Lady Bengals would come out on top by the final score of 71 to 55.

The Lady Bengals came out on fire scoring the first seven points of the ball game.  The Lady Bears would get on the board when Angel Bradford would hit a jumper with 7:48 remaining. The Lady Bengals would close out the quarter on a 14 to 8 run to take a 15-point lead into the second quarter; 25-10.

In the second quarter, the Lady Bears found their stroke on the offensive end. The Lady Bears would use a full court defensive press to keep the Lady Bengals out of sync on the offensive end. That defensive pressure also led the Lady Bears into some steals which they turned into transition points. The Lady Bears would outscore the Lady Bengals 14 to 9, in the second quarter. At the half, LSUE led 34 to 24.

Early in the third quarter, the Lady Bears would score four quick points to pull within six with 8 minutes remaining. The Lady Bengals would extend their lead to 12; 41-29 with 6:46 remaining. The Lady Bears would claw their way back to within 7 at the end of the third quarter;51-44. 

In the fourth quarter, the Lady Bears struggled to get anything going on the offensive end as they would only score 11 points, while the Lady Bengals would score 20 to seal the 71 to 55 conference victory.

With the victory the LSUE Lady Bengals improve to 10-9, 3-1 while the Baton Rouge Lady Bears fall to 11-7, 3-1 on the season.

The Lady Bears will return to action this Wednesday February 9 when they face conference foe the Southern Shreveport Lady Jags at 5:30 pm in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.
