Lady Bears comeback falls short versus the Co-Lin Lady Wolves

Baton Rouge Lady Bears started the game off slow but rallied late to come up short this afternoon versus the Copiah Lincoln Lady Wolves. Co-Lin would defeat the Lady Bears by the final score of 66 to 61, in the Bears Den.

Co-Lin would come out quick to take an early 8 to 4 lead over  Baton Rouge. The Lady Bears would tie the game at 11 on a jumper by Alanna Donaldson with 3:24 left ,in the first quarter. The Lady Wolves would close out the quarter on an 11 to 4 run to take a 22 to 15 lead, after the first quarter. 

In the second quarter, the offensive woes continued for the Lady Bears as they would only score 7 points. The Lady Bears could not contain the high-powered offense of the Lady Wolves.  Co-Lin out manned the Lady Bears on the boards leading to multiple second chance opportunities. The Lady Wolves outscored the Lady Bears 18 to 7, in the quarter to take a 40 to 22, lead into the half.

At the half, Head Coach Paula Lee challenged her kids to play harder on both ends of the floor. The Lady Bears clamped down on the defensive end of the floor allowing Co-Lin to only score 8 points, in the third quarter. The Lady Bears found a bit of a rhythm on the offensive end as they would score 17 points, in the quarter. At the end of the third quarter, the Lady Bears trailed the Lady Wolves 48 to 39.

The Lady Bears continued to fight and claw their way, in the fourth quarter. Baton Rouge would go on a 13 to 4 run to tie the game at 52 with five minutes left to play. Monique Patterson would hit a jumper to tie the ball game for the Lady Bears. The Lady Bears would take their first lead of the ballgame when Angel Bradford would hit a jumper to take a 55 to 53 lead with 3:57 left to play. Co-Lin would take a one-point lead; 58-57 with 1:49 left. The Lady Bears would have their chances down the stretch but Co-Lin would escape the Bears Den with a 66 to 61 Region 23 victory.

Alanna Donaldson led the Lady Bears with 22 points. Aniya Sanders led the Co-Lin Lady Wolves with 15points.

With the victory, Copiah Lincoln improves to 5-2 while Baton Rouge falls to 2-3 on the season.

Lady Bears Highlights:

Angel Bradford scored 15 points

Frandreka Keller added 7 points 

 

The Lady Bears will return to action this Monday November 22 as they take on the Lady Bears of Southwest Mississippi at 2 pm in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.
