Lady Bears pick up first win!

Lady Bears pick up first win!

Saturday November 13, 2021: Women's Basketball

Utica, MS

Baton Rouge Lady Bears went on the road to face Region 22 opponent the Hinds Community College Lady Bulldogs and game away with their first victory of the season: 64-53.

The Lady Bears were down at halftime 37-31. Baton Rouge outscored Hinds 33 to 16, in the second half, to erase the first half deficient and secure the road victory.

Head Coach Paula Lee thoughts on today's victory:

We are starting to understand the importance of the five people on the court each doing their job. Angel Bradford has started to look like the Angel I knew she could be offensively, but we are still working on her defense. Tronayia Issac had a good game offensively and we need her to show up every night for us to be successful. Alanna Donaldson continues to play solid minutes and learning more each game on how to be a solid point guard. Samira Irvin gave us some huge minutes off the bench. Great WIN overall but a road win which we needed going into a three game home stretch against some very seasoned teams.

The Lady Bears were led in scoring by Angel Bradford who scored 22 points. The Bulldogs were led in scoring by P. Broomfield and C. Gayden who each has 14 points.

With the victory, Baton Rouge improves to 1-2 on the season, while Hinds falls to 0-4.

Lady Bears Highlights:

Alanna Donaldson led the Lady Bears with 23 points with 5 rebounds, 4 assist and 5 steals

Angel Bradford scored 19 points with 4 rebounds and 4 steals

Tronayia Issac added 11 points with 4 rebounds

The Lady Bears will be back in action this Thursday November 18, 2021, as they take on Bossier Parish Lady Cavs at 5:30 pm in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.
