Lady Bears fall to Coahoma Lady Tigers ending season

With the victory on Monday versus the Southern Shreveport Lady Jags, in the first round of the Region 23 tournament, the Lady Bears earned a second round match up with the second seeded Coahoma Lady Tigers in Clarksdale, Mississippi. 

The Lady Bears hung tough, in the first quarter, against the Lady Tigers. The Lady Bears led 19 to 16, after the first quarter.  Coahoma would outscore Baton Rouge 26 to 11, in the second quarter, to take a 42-30 halftime lead. In the third quarter, the Lady Bears had some difficulties scoring. Coahoma would outscore Baton Rouge 13 to 6, to take a 55 to 36 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Lady Bears found a bit of offense in the fourth quarter, but they could not contain the Lady Tiger's high powered offense. Coahoma would outscore Baton Rouge 18 to 14 enroute to the 73-50 Region 23 round two victory.

Coahoma was led in scoring by Journet McLaurin with 16 points. The Lady Bears were led in scoring by freshman guard Demetriona Hookfin with 9 points. The Lady Tigers had four student athletes score in double figures.

 

Lady Bears Game Highlights:

Demetriona Hookfin led all Lady Bears with 9 points, and 2 rebounds.

Taylor Vaughn scored 8 points with 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 blocks.

Angel Bradford added 8 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals.

An' Tiesha Griffin scored 7 points with 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

Alanna Donaldson and Kirstin Journet each added 6 points.

 

The Lady Bears finish the 2020-2021 season 8-11 and 5-7 in conference play.
