Wednesday March 24,2021

Women's Basketball: Baton Rouge, La

Tonight, was the game Head Coach Paula Lee had been looking for out of her ball club all season. The Lady Bears finally put all phases of the game together to dominate from start to finish. The Lady Bears defeat the Delgado Lady Dolphins 70 to 51 to pick up a conference victory tonight, in the Bears Den.

Baton Rouge Lady Bears took it back to the old days of the program and started with an aggressive full court press from the tip. The aggressive defense by the Lady Bears forced numerous Lady Dolphins turnovers that turned into points on the offensive end of the floor for the Lady Bears. After the game was tied at 2 early in the first quarter, the Lady Bears would go on a 15 to 5 run to build their lead to 10 points, 17 to 7. The Lady Bears would hold the Lady Dolphins to just nine points, in the first quarter. After one quarter, Baton Rouge led 17 to 9.  The second quarter was like the first for the Lady Bears. They continued their stingy defense limiting the Dolphins to 9 points. Baton Rouge would outscore Delgado 16 to 9, in the second quarter. At the half, the Lady Bears led 33 to 18.

In the third quarter, the Lady Bears would continue their success on defense and keep the Lady Dolphins out of sync. The Lady Bears continued their offensive explosion outscoring the Lady Dolphins 21 to 15, in the third quarter. After three quarters, the Lady Bears led 54 to 33.  Unlike past games, the Lady Bears kept their foot on the gas pedal on both ends of the floor. Delgado would outscore Baton Rouge 18 to 16, in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to overcome the Lady Bears lead.

An offensive explosion and stingy defense leads the Lady Bears to a 70 to 51 conference victory over the Delgado Lady Dolphins this evening in the Bears Den.
