Lady Bears Basketball drops conference game at Delgado

Lady Bears drop conference game to the Delgado Lady Dolphins this afternoon in the Crescent City by the final score of 64 to 56.

The first quarter was a back-and-forth contest between the two conference rivals. The game was tied twice and saw three lead changes. At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bears held a slim 18 to 16 lead. In the second quarter, both teams struggled offensively. Delgado Lady Dolphins would find some offence late to close out the quarter on a 10 to 4 run to take a 28 to 26 lead into the half.

Baton Rouge would tie the game at 28 on a Tronayia Issac bucket with 8:27, in the third quarter. The Lady Dolphins would outscore the Lady Bears 15 to 11 in the third quarter. At the end of the third quarter, the Lady Dolphins led 43 to 37. Delgado largest lead in the fourth quarter was 12 points, 53-41 with 6:25. The Lady Bears would claw back but it was not enough as the Delgado Lady Dolphins would earn the 64 to 56 conference victory. The Lady Bears were outscored 21 to 19 in the fourth quarter.

Alanna Donaldson led all Lady Bears with 25 points. Nathalie Dominguez led all Lady Dolphins with 14 points. Delgado had 3 student athletes in double figures. The Lady Bears had two in double figures.

Alanna Donaldson led all Lady Bears with 25 points, 10 Rebounds, 3 Assists and 3 steals

Tronayia Issac scored 13 points with 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 block. 

Frandreka Keller added 5 points with 1 rebound, 2 assists and 3 steals.

With the victory the Delgado Lady Dolphins improve to 6-4,4-4 in conference play while the Lady Bears falls to 5-8, 3-5 on the season.

Next up for the Lady Bears is a rematch with conference leading LSUE Lady Bengals on Wednesday March 17 at 5:30 pm in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.
