Women's Basketball: New Orleans, La

Baton Rouge Lady Bears struggled to score in two quarters, while the Delgado Lady Dolphins would take advantage of the Bears' struggles enroute to the 54 to 49 conference victory this evening in the Crescent City.

It was a back and forth contest, in the first quarter, as the Lady Bears would go on a mini run to take the early advantage. After the first quarter, the Lady Bears held a slim 15 to 12 lead. In the second quarter, the Lady Bears struggled to get their offense going. Delgado would tie the game at 15 with 6:58 left to play in the half. Baton Rouge struggled with turnovers, rebounding and just getting into the flow of the offense. Delgado would outscore Baton Rouge 12 to 8, in the quarter,  to take a one point lead into halftime; 24-23.

In the third quarter, the Lady Bears settled down on offense and increased their defensive pressure. They were also better on the boards, limiting the Lady Dolphins second chance opportunities. The Bears built their largest lead of the game 12 with 5:15 left in the quarter. The Lady Bears would outscore Delgado 18 to 11 in the quarter to take a 41 to 35 lead heading into the fourth.

The Lady Bears struggles would return in the fourth quarter. Delgado would take the lead with a driving layup and foul with 6:52. Delgado led 45 to 44. Delgado would take advantage of second chances on the offensive end and finish out the quarter on a 9 to 5 run to seal the 54 to 49 victory. Deladgo outscored Baton Rouge 19 to 8 in the fourth quarter.

Nash Dominguez led the Lady Dolphins with 15 points. Alanna Donaldson led the Lady Bears with 12 points.

With the victory the Delgado Lady Dolphins improve to 4-4, 2-3 in conference while Baton Rouge Lady Bears fall to 4-6, 2-3.

Alanna Donaldson led the Lady Bears with 12 points, 4 Rebounds, 3 Assists and 3 Steals

Amani Barrow scored 9 points with 8 Rebounds, 1 Block and 3 Steals

Angel Bradford and Demetriona Hookfin each added 6 points

Next up for the Lady Bears is a match up with conference leading LSUE Lady Bengals on Saturday March 6 at 2 pm in the HPRE Center in Eunice
