The Lady Bears pick up a much-needed conference victory tonight over the Southern Shreveport Lady Jags, in the Bears Den.  Baton Rouge rallied, in the final minutes, to pull off the 79 to 73 victory.

The Lady Bears came out on fire on the offensive end scoring the first 10 points of the game. With five minutes to play, in the first quarter, the Lady Bears held a 13 to 4 lead over the Lady Jags. The Lady Jags would find their rhythm on offense, but the Lady Bears would hold a 26 to 19 lead, after the first quarter.  In the second quarter, the Lady Jags would outscore the Lady Bears 21 to 17 to close the gap to three points at the half; 43-40.

The Lady Bears came out of the locker room aggressive on both ends of the floor.  They extended their lead to 11 points after the third quarter; 60 to 49.  The game would come down to the final seconds as the Lady Bears would steal the ball on three consecutive possession and score lay-ups to pull out the 79 to 73 victory.

The Lady Bears were led in scoring by sophomore forward Desrael Schnyder who had 21 points.

With the victory the Lady Bears improve to 6-13, 1-2 in conference play while Southern Shreveport Lady Jags fall to 8-9 ,1-2 on the season

Lady Bears Highlights:

Desrael Schnyder led all Lady Bears with 21 points

Britanae White and A'Zia Reed each scored 14 points

Antiesha Griffin added 10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assist and 5 steals

The Lady Bears will be back in action this Saturday February 1 as they take on LCCAC leading LSUE Lady Bengals at 2 pm in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.
