A new season arrived tonight as LCCAC play began.  It was a fresh start and new beginning but unfortunately, the Lady Bears season struggles continued in conference play as the LSUE Lady Bengals took home the 83 to 57 victory tonight in the HPRE center.

It was a sloppy first quarter for the Lady Bears that did them in.  They were forced into too many turnovers that led to some easy transition buckets for the Lady Bengals.  The Lady Bears offensive was out of rhythm; as they were taking quick shots and struggling to contain the boards.  The Lady Bengals went on a 16 to 2 run the last five minutes of the first quarter to take a commanding 22 to 8 first quarter lead.  In the second quarter, the Lady Bears settled down a bit but still could not contain the Lady Bengals offense.  The Lady Bengals would open the quarter on an 11 to 4 run, with 6:11 to play to build their largest lead of the half, 21 points.  At half time the Lady Bengals held a 44 to 24 lead over the Lady Bears.

The Lady Bears were challenged at halftime by Head Coach Paula Lee but the Lady Bengals were just too much for the Lady Bears to handle tonight as they would take the conference victory 83 to 57.

The Lady Bengals were led in scoring by Ava Jones who scored 19 points. The Lady Bears were led in scoring by A'Zia Reed and Britanae White who each had 14 points.

With the win the LSUE Lady Bengals improve to 12-6 and 1-0 in conference play.  With the loss, the Lady Bears fall to 5-12 and 0-1 in conference play.

Lady Bears Highlights:

A'Zia Reed and Britanae White led all Lady Bears with 14 points

Jennifer Carter added 7 points

Desrael Schnyder scored 6 points.

The Lady Bears will be back in action on Saturday January 25 as they continue conference play at Delgado in New Orleans at 2 pm in the Williamson Center.
