The Delgado Lady Dolphins used a late fourth quarter rally to defeat the Baton Rouge Lady Bears 50 to 44, this afternoon in the Williamson Center.

The first quarter was very sluggish and sloppy between the Lady Bears and the Lady Dolphins.  The game was tied at 4, when the Lady Dolphins would go on an 8-0 run to take a 12 to 4 lead with 1:23 left to play.  The Lady Bears would close out the quarter on  a 5 to 0 run to pull within 3; 12 to 9 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Lady Bears would outscore the Lady Dolphins 12 to 8 to take a one-point lead into halftime; 21 to 20.

It was a very back and forth low scoring third quarter.  Delgado would outscore Baton Rouge 9 to 7 to take a 29 to 28 lead heading into the fourth quarter.  In the third quarter the game was tied three times.  In the fourth quarter the Lady Bears would get a spark out of freshman forward Amani Barrow as she would score four straight points to give the Lady Bears a 37 to 36 lead with 5 minutes to play. The game would be tied  at 41 with 1:28 left to play.  Delgado would then finish the game on a 7 to 3 run to secure the 50 to 44 conference victory.

The Lady Bears were led in scoring by Antiesha Griffin who scored 13 points.  Delgado Lady Dolphins were led in scoring by DanNecia Nora who had a game high 20 points.

With the victory the Lady Dolphins improve to 5-12 and 1-1 in conference play while the Bears fall to 5-13, 0-2 on the season.

Lady Bears Highlights:

Antiesha Griffin led all Lady Bears with 13 points

Desrael Schnyder added 9 points and 5 rebounds

Amani Barrow scored 7 points with 2 rebounds

The Lady Bears will return home this Wednesday January 29 at 5:30 pm in the Bonne Santé Wellness Center versus conference foe Southern Shreveport.  It will be part of a doubleheader with the men's team as they tip off at 7:30 pm.  It will also be Spirit and Jersey night inside the Bears Den.  Wear your favorite team's jersey or BRCC shirt and come out and support the Lady Bears.
