Lady Bears Fall Short at Southwest Mississippi

BRCC Lady Bears traveled to Summit, MS to play Southwest Mississippi on Thursday night. Baton Rouge struggled score in the second half and lost the game 47-40 to fall 1-4 on the season.

At halftime, the two teams were tied at twenty-five. BRCC's defense came to play in the second half, holding Southwest to 22 points, but the offense could only manage 15 points.

Pearl Jones recorded her 4th straight double-double. After failing to reach the feat on openint night, Jones has reached double-digits in points and rebounds every game, inlcuding 13 points and 18 rebounds (nine offensive) versus Southwest.

  • Oterica Witherspoon also scored in double-figures for BRCC with 11 points.
  • Lady Bears committed 22 turnovers.
  • BRCC outrebounded Southwest 41-35, including 17 offensive.
  • BRCC had 13 steals. Jones had 5; Witherspoon had 4.
  • BRCC went 8 of 13 from the free throw line. 

BRCC has the weekend off before traveling to Jones County on Tuesday, November 15th. Game time is set for 5:30 pm in Ellisville, MS.
