Bears Historic Run Comes to an End at the South Central District Tournament

The Baton Rouge Bears faced the Seminole State Trojans this morning in an elimination game of the South-Central District Tournament. Unfortunately, the Bears' historic run came to an end with a 3-2 loss to the Trojans in the semifinals.
The Bears threatened in the top of the second inning when Baylie Romero led off with a single up the middle, and Kyla Ashford drew a walk, but both were left stranded. The Trojans took the early lead in the bottom of the second inning when they plated a run. The Trojans got runners on second and third, and a controversial tag-up play at the plate allowed them to score. They added another run in the third inning, increasing their lead to 2-0 when K Maker was hit by a pitch and later scored on an A Yocham single to center field.
The Bears got on the board in the top of the fifth with two runs, tying the game. Lindsey Hudson drew a walk, Maddie Robinson singled to right field, and both scored on a double off the left field wall by Mary Wicke.
However, the Trojans regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth with a run, making it 3-2. K Sallee led off the inning with a double and scored on a ground out by K Green to the Bears' second baseman.
The Bears went down in order in the seventh inning, ending the game and their remarkable 2025 season.
Abbey Borel started in the circle for the Bears, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 1. Briley LeBeouf pitched 2.1 innings in relief and allowed 1 run on 2 hits, walking 1 and striking out 2; she was credited with the loss. Maddie Robinson pitched 1.0 inning in relief as well. For the Trojans, G Major started in the circle, and M Ingram came in for relief, earning the victory.

Maddie Robinson: 1 for 4 with 1 run
Mary Wicke: 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 2 walks
Baylie Romero: 1 for 3
Ashlyn Hebert: 1 for 2 with a double
Kyla Ashford: 2 walks
With the loss, the Bears finish the 2025 season with a record of 25-18, while the Trojans improved to 37-11. Seminole State now leads the all-time series with one win over Baton Rouge.
