Lady Bears Softball team recognized as an NJCAA Academic Team
Thursday July 15,2021:
The NJCAA announced their 2020-2021 Academic Teams of the year and the Baton Rouge Community College Lady Bears Softball team garnered recognition. To be eligible for this honor, a team has to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. There were 820 programs that earned a 3.0 or higher and 147 NJCAA softball programs that received this recognition. East Mississippi Community College was named Softball Academic Team of the Year with a GPA of 3.86. Our BRCC softball team finished the year with a 3.32 GPA. BRCC was 74 out of 182 softball programs. The Lady Bears also had 9 student athletes named to the All-Academic teams. Those student athlete include: Kaitley Fisher (second team), Kellsie Clement (second team), Leanne Lain (second team), Brooke Romano (second team), Kylie Lormand (third team), Kourtni Jagneaux (third team),Kelsie Bell Etheridge (third team), Isabella Landeche (third team) and Rylee Vincent (third team). These young ladies overcame living through a pandemic and going to virtual learning to succeed on and off the field.
