Two late inning rallies help the Lamar State Port Arthur Lady Seahawks defeat the Baton Rouge Lady Bears twice today by the final score of 5 to 2.

In game one, the Lady Bears struck first with a run, in the first, to take an early lead. Savanna Orgeron would walk and score on a Hallie Autin double to left field.  The Lady Bears would add another run in the third inning. Blayne Pence would reach on a bunt single and would score on a Haleigh Laylle single.  The Seahawks would respond with a run in the third but they would still trail 2 to 1.  Lamar State broke the game open, in the fourth, with four runs.  Three of those runs were via a three run homer by T Frederick. After four, the Seahawks led 5 to 2 and that was all they would need to win game one.

Britni Hunt got the victory for Lamar State Port Arthur.  She pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out nine. Lacey Bonvillain got the loss for the Lady Bears.  Lacey pitched six innings, allowing five runs on ten hits while striking out four.

Lady Bears Highlights Game 1:

Savanna Orgeron went 1 for 3 with 1 Run and 1 BB

Hallie Autin went 1 for 4 with 1 RBI

Blayne Pence went 1 for 3 with 1 run

Krystal Stubbs went 2 for 3

Game two was a carbon copy of game one.  The Lady Bears would score first but a late big inning by the Seahawks would help them defeat Baton Rouge by the final score of 5 to 2. The Lady Bears would get on the board first with two runs, in the fourth. Bailey Duhon would single and score the Bears first run on a Kelsey Cifreo double to center field. Kelsey would later score on a single by Payge Hebert.  Lamar State would respond with a run in the bottom of the fourth. BRCC led 2 to 1 after four innings. Lamar would strike for 3 runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth to take the 5 to 2 victory.

Both teams had nine hits.

Kassandra Vargus got the win for the Seahawks. She pitched seven innings, allowing two runs on nine hits while striking out five. Bailey Duhon got the loss for the Lady Bears.  Bailey pitched four and a third innings, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out seven.  Kelsey Cifreo pitched one and two-thirds innings in relief for the Lady Bears.

Lady Bears Highlights Game 2:

Hallie Autin went 2 for 4

Bailey Duhon went 1 for 2 with 1 run

Kelsey Cifreo went 1 for 3 with 1 run and 1 RBI

Payge Hebert went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI

The Lady Bears will be back in action on Monday March 11 as they return home to Oak Villa Park to take on the Co-Lin Lady Wolves in a doubleheader starting at 2 pm.
