Bears struggle to control high powered offense of the LSUE Bengals

Like the women's team, the Bears Basketball team started the third round of conference play against the LSUE Bengals.  The LSUE Bengals used a dominate second half to defeat the Baton Rouge Bears 78 to 58, tonight in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.  With the victory, the LSUE Bengal claim the regular season conference title outright.

Baton Rouge would open the half with great ball movement on the offensive end which help them grow their lead to seven points; 23-16 with 8:24 left in the half. Jayhlon Young and JaQualon Lovette accounted for 18 of the Bears first 23 points.  The Bengal's would rally to tie the game at 25 with 4:58 remaining.  The Bengal would close out the half on an 10-2 run to take a 35-27 lead, into the second half.

In the second half, the Bengals dominated on the boards and in the paint.  The Bears could not find an answer to slow down the Bengals on the offensive end, while they themselves were struggling to score points.  The Bengals would grow their lead to 17 halfway through the second half.  The Bengals dominated on the defensive end limiting the Bears to only 31 second half points.  The Bengals would win tonight's match up in the capital city by the final score of 78-58 to claim the regular season conference title.

With the victory, LSUE improves to 15-6, 7-0, while Baton Rouge falls to 9-13, 3-4 on the season.

The Bears will travel to Shreveport this Saturday February 19 to take on the Southern Shreveport Port City Jags at 4 pm at Northwood High School.
