Bears Basketball falls on the road to LSUE

This afternoon the second round of conference play began for the Baton Rouge Bears, in the HPRE Center, versus the LSUE Bengals. The LSUE Bengals would jump out to a quick start and would never look back as they would defeat the Baton Rouge Bears by the final score of 67 to 51 to remain undefeated, in conference play.

In the first half, the Bengals jumped out to a quick 16 to 6 lead with 12:14 remaining in the half. The Bears would come alive on the offensive end of the floor to go on a mini 16 to 9 run to pull within three;25-22 with 5:47 remaining. The Bengals would close out the half on another run to take a 34 to 26 lead in halftime. The second half was more of the same for the Bengals as they would run a fast-paced game, in which, they took advantage of paint points, offensive rebounds, and transition buckets to outscore the Bears 33 to 25. The Bengal's consistent two halves would lead them to the 67 to 51 conference victory, this afternoon, on the Cajun Prairie.

Isaiah Payne led the Bengals with 16 points. The Bears were led in scoring by Jordan Randall with 15 points.

With the victory LSUE improves to 12-6, 4-0, while Baton Rouge falls to 7-12, 1-3 on the season.

Bears Highlights:

Jordan Randall led all Bears with 15 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist off the bench

Jayhlon Young added 11 point, 4 rebounds, 2 assist and 2 steals

Kemar Benn added 8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.

Reginald Gause scored 6 points with 5 rebounds

 

The Bears will be back in action this Wednesday February 9 as they take on conference opponents the Southern Shreveport Port City Jags at 7:30 in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center on the BRCC MidCity Campus.
