A strong second half by the Pearl River Wildcats leads them to an 83-53 victory tonight over the Baton Rouge Bears in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair between the Bears and the Wildcats as they game was tied three times and neither team had larger than a six-point advantage. Pearl River would score first, off a free throw with 18:36 left. Baton Rouge would take a 13-12 lead with 10:54 left. The Bears were more consistent offensively, and more aggressive on the defensive end of the floor. The Bears forced the Wildcats to run their half court offensive rather than their run their transition offense. With the game tied at 27, with 3:06 in the half, Pearl River would go on a 5 to 2 run to close out the half with a 32 to 29 lead over the Bears.

In the second half, the Baton Rouge Bears struggled to contain the high-powered offense of the Pearl River Wildcats. Pearl River outscored Baton Rouge 51-24, in the second half. The Bears struggled to get anything going on the offensive end of the floor. Pearl River takes the 83 to 53 victory over the Baton Rouge Bears.

Jaronn Walker led the Wildcats in scoring with 13. Pearl River had four student athletes score in double figures. Darian Pierce Jr. led the Bears with 11 points. The Bears had three student athletes in double figures.

With the victory, Pearl River improves to 4-0 while Baton Rouge falls to 0-4 on the season.

Jayhlon Young scored 10 points with 11 rebounds and 3 assist. A double- double

Reginald Gause added 10 points with 2 rebounds and 2 steals.

The Bears will be back in action this Saturday November 13, 2021, at 4 pm as they face Region 23 opponent the Jones College Bobcats, in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.
