Bears drop conference game to LSUE

Tonight, conference matchup between the LSUE Bengals and the Baton Rouge Bears was a game of runs. Unfortunately for the Bears they were one run short as the Bengals would defeat the Bears 70 to 62, in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.

The LSUE Bengals jumped out to a quick lead in tonight's conference matchup with the Baton Rouge Bears.  LSUE built a 12-point lead with 12:17 left in the half;21 to 9. The Bears would fight back and they would go on a 11 to 3 run to pull within 4, with 6:39 to play.  The Bengals would end the half on a 12 to 10 run to take a 36 to 30 halftime lead.

The Bears would open the second half on a 10 to 3 run to take a one-point lead; 40 to 39 with 17:44. Ngor Nai would hit a three pointer from the top of the key to give the Bears the one-point lead. Julius Ellerbe III would score the Bears next five points to extend their lead to 45 to 39. The Bears would get sloppy with the ball and turn it over for the next three possessions.  The Bengals would turn those miscues into 7 points to retake the lead at 50 to 45 with 13:28 left to play. Over the next seven minutes the Bengals would extend their lead and secure the 70 to 62 conference victory.

 

The Bengals were led in scoring by Isaiah Payne with 20 points.

With the victory, LSUE Bengals improve to 11-0, 9-0 in conference play, while the Baton Rouge Bears fall to 5-8,3-6 on the season.

The Bears will be back in action this Saturday March 20, 2021 as they take on the Southern Shreveport Port City Jags at 4 pm in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.
