Men's Basketball: Shreveport, La

The Baton Rouge Bears cruise to a 73 to 64 conference victory over the Southern Shreveport Port City Jags tonight in Shreveport.  It was a close back and forth game for the first 15 minutes of the half. The two teams were tied three times and had four lead changes in that period.  In the final five minutes of the half, the Bears inside game and especially Freshman Centers Chan Nai  and Ngor Nai would get hot. The Australian brothers would score 12 of the 15 Bears points to end the half. The Bears would outscore the Jags 15 to 6, in those final five minutes, to take a 36 to 28 lead into the half.

In the second half, the Bears continued their solid defensive performance limiting the Jags possessions. The Bears largest lead of the second half would be 20 points, 69-49 with 5:40 left to play. The Jags would attempt a rally, but it would fall short as the Bears would earn the 73 to 64 victory.

With the victory the Bears improve to 5-6, 3-4 in conference play, while the Jags fall to 2-9, 0-7 on the season.

Next up for the Bears will be a rematch with the Delgado Dolphins this Saturday March 13 at 4 pm in New Orleans.
