Bears Fall to Lee College

Bears Fall to Lee College

The Rebels from Lee College proved to be to much for Baton Rouge CC on Wednesday night. The Bears lost for the first time this season by a score of 76-67, bringing their season record to 2-1.

The Bears trailed at the half 33-25, but kept the game close in the 2nd half. BRCC managed to regain the lead with over eight minutes to play. After pulling ahead 49-48 the Bears were outscored 28-18 to close the ball game. Coach Wilson took ownership for how the team finished. "I think we were fatigued. We didn't execute and were careless with the ball. And that's on me."

While disappointed in the outcome, Coach Wilson understands where the young Bears are in the season. "That's a good team we played tonight. One of the best teams in the country and we competed. We are not too far off."

Phillip Rankin led the Bears in scoring with 27 points, including 10 of 11 from the free throw line.  Brian Sylvester was the only other player to score in double digits and he finished with 10.

The Bears are back in action on Monday, November 11th as BRCC hosts a men's and women's doubleheader vs Copiah-Lincoln Community College.  The women's game begins at 5:00 pm.
