Bears Defeat HCC to Start 1-0

BRCC men's basketball opened their season on Saturday evening at the Bonne Sante Wellness Center. They came away with their first win of the season versus Houston Community College by a score of 74-54.

Coach Wilson was pleased with the effort in the win. "We had 19 offensive rebounds and played hard on both ends of the floor." He continues, "I felt Denzel Flemings played a solid basketball game for us tonight."

The Bears used a balanced offense attack during the win.  Phillip Rankin led all scorers with 17 points, followed by Henry Pryor who also managed to get into double digits with 12 points.  Seven players scored more than 7 points for the Bears.

Tonight was a nice way to start the season, but Coach expects improvement before the team travels to Holmes Community College for game two on Monday night.  "We need to transition better on both sides of the floor. Some guys who have been nursing injuries tired quickly tonight and they need to get into game shape."
