Bears to host Region XXIII Division I Baseball Tournament on May 3-6

The Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) Baseball team will host the 2025 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XXIII Division I Baseball Tournament from Saturday, May 3, to Tuesday, May 6, 2025. The tournament will take place at the Denham Springs High School Baseball Field, located at 1000 N Range Ave, Denham Springs, LA.

 

This year's Region XXIII tournament features a double-elimination format and includes the following four teams:

- Delgado Community College Dolphins

- Baton Rouge Community College Bears

- Nunez Community College Pelicans

- Louisiana State University Eunice Bengals

LSU Eunice enters the tournament as the top seed, having recorded the best regular season record among conference teams. Delgado holds the #2 seed, Nunez is #3, and Baton Rouge is #4. The tournament will kick off on Saturday, May 3, with LSU Eunice facing Baton Rouge at 1 PM, followed by Delgado and Nunez at 4:30 PM.

All games in this double-elimination tournament will consist of nine innings. The seeding is based on conference performance (best regular season record against conference teams). The higher seed will be the home team only on the first day; a coin flip will determine the home team for subsequent days.

"We're excited to host this year's Region XXIII Tournament," said BRCC Athletics Director Brock Kantrow. "It promises to be an excellent weekend of baseball where our talented student-athletes can showcase their skills and abilities in a playoff atmosphere. Many of them will have the opportunity to advance in their academic and baseball careers. We look forward to a fantastic event for BRCC, and we invite the Baton Rouge community to come out and enjoy some great baseball during this four-day tournament."

Game 1     1:00     Baton Rouge (4 seed) vs LSUE (1 seed)

Game 2    4:30      Nunez (3 seed) vs Delgado (2 seed)

Day 2 (Sunday May 4, 2025)

Game 3.  1:00    Loser Game 1 vs Loser Game 2

Game 4.  4:30    Winner Game 1 vs Winner Game 2

Day 3 (Monday May 5, 2025)

Game 5.   3:15 pm. Winner Game 3 vs Loser Game 4

Game 6.   6:45 pm. Winner Game 5 vs Winner Game 4

Day 4 (Tuesday May 6, 2025)

The Region XXIII champion will advance to the NJCAA South District Championship to face the Region XXII (Alabama) champion in a best-of-three series May 15-17.
