Bears fall to #1 LSUE Bengals

The Baton Rouge Bears and the LSUE Bengals series shifted to the Capital city for this afternoon game. LSUE would revenge yesterday loss to the Bears with an 8 to 2 victory at Brusly High School.

Baton Rouge would score first ,in the first inning, when Nathan Beyer would double to left field driving in Deionte Norris, who walked.  After one inning, the Bears led 1 to 0. The Bengals would put a four spot up in the fourth to take a 4 to 1 lead. Baton Rouge would respond with a run in the fifth inning. Cody Crifasi would reach on a walk and score on a Nathan Carriere sac fly.  Bengals would extend their lead with three more runs in sixth inning, 7-2. The Bears struggled offensively to find a hit. The Bears would only have two hits in the ball game. LSUE would tact on an insurance run, in the ninth inning, to secure the 8 to 2 victory.

 

Lasseigne earned the victory for the LSUE Bengals. He pitched five and a third innings allowing 2 runs on 1 hit while striking out 3. Jacob Poe earned the loss for the Bears. Poe pitched five and two thirds' innings allowing 7 runs on 7 hits while striking out 4 and walking 0. Peter Holden pitched in relief for the Bears.

 

Bears Highlights:

Nathan Beyer went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI.

Cody Crifasi went 1 for 1 with 1 Run.

Nathan Carriere had1 RBI

 

With the victory the LSUE Bengals improve to 18-3 while the Baton Rouge Bears fall to 11-13 on the season.

The Bears and the Bengals will face each other eight more times this season.  The Bengals lead the overall series 64 to 9.

The Bears will be back in action this Sunday with a doubleheader starting at 2 pm with the LSUA Generals. The games will be at Brusly High School.
