Bears Baseball drops a pair at Jones College

Baton Rouge Bears traveled to Ellisville today to take on the Jones College Bobcats in a doubleheader at Community Bank Park. Jones would earn the doubleheader sweep of the Bears. Jones takes game one 11 to 1 and walks off with the 4 to 3 game two victory.

 

Baton Rouge Bears would get on the board first with one run in the first inning. Nathan Carriere would lead off with a single up the middle and he would score on a Nathan Beyer single. Jones College would score two runs ,in the third inning, to take a 2 to 1 lead. They would extend their lead with two more runs in the fourth inning; 4 to 1. The Bobcats would break the game open,in the sixth, with sixth runs.  They would cap off the run rule victory with a run, in the seventh, to take game one 11 to 1.

 

Jones College outhit Baton Rouge 12 to 6. Baton Rouge committed four errors in the game.

 

Coleton Ausbern earned the victory for the Bobcats.  He pitched seven innings allowing, one run on six hits while striking out five. Christopher Courville started in the mound for the Bears. Chris pitched four and two-thirds innings allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out three. T.J Thomas Jr pitched one and one third innings in relief for the Bears.

 

Bears Game 1 Highlights

Nathan Carriere went 2 for 3 with 1 run

Creed David went 1 for 3

Nathan Beyer went 1 for 3 with 1RBI

Parker Autry went 1 for 3

Cameron Guitreau went 1 for 2

 

 

 

In game two, the Bears would score early but a seventh inning rally would help Jones College walk off with the 4 to 3 victory.

 

Baton Rouge would get on the board first with three runs in the first inning to take the early lead.  The Bears would score their first run of the game when Creed David would score on a wild pitch. William Veillon, who doubled, would score on a fielder's choice by Nathan BeyerBlaise Foote would drive across the Bears third run of the game. Jones College would get one run back in the bottom of the first. The Bears led 3 to 1 after one inning.  It became a pitching duel for the next five innings. Neither team could scratch across a run in that time frame.  The Bobcats would tie the game at three with a two-run double by G Lacey.  B Johnson would single to left field bringing in the game winning run for Jones College. The Bobcats would win game two 4 to 3 in walk off fashion.

 

Jones outhit Baton Rouge 9 to 6. Baton Rouge committed two errors in the ball game.

 

Andrew Nix earns the victory for Jones College. He pitched six innings allowing zero runs on six hits while striking out three. Jacob Poe started on the mound for the Bears. Jacob pitched six innings, allowing one run on six hits. Tanner Young earned the loss for the Bears in relief. Tanner pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing three runs on three hits.

 

 

Bears Game 2 Highlights

William Veillon went 2 for 3 with 1 run

Nathan Beyer had 1 run and 1 RBI

Alex Guilbeau went 1 for 1 with 2 BB

Blaise Foote had 1 RBI

Austin Norris went 1 for 2 with 1 BB

Cameron Lewis went 2 for 2

 

With the losses, the Bears fall to 14-17 on the season.
