Tuesday March 3, 2020: Baseball

Baton Rouge Bears and the East Central Warriors tangled tonight at Pete Goldsby Field.  The Bears would come from behind to win in walk off fashion.

East Central would get on the board first with one run, in the first inning. The warriors would add to their lead with a run in the fifth and a run in the sixth to take a 3 to 0 lead over the Bears heading into the bottom of the seventh. The Bears' bats were silent for most of the game but came alive at the right moment. The Bears would score four runs, in the bottom of the seventh, to walk off with the 4 to 3 dramatic victory.

Cameron Guitreau would lead off the seventh with a single to right field. Cody Crifasi would follow with a single of his own to right field. Parker Autry would step up next and hit a double up the middle scoring the Bears first run of the game. Deionte Norris would draw a walk to load the bases. William Veillon would hit a sac fly to centerfield scoring Crifasi for the Bears second run of the game.  Freshman Blaise Foote would single to right field scoring two runs propelling the Bears to the walk off  victory.

East Central out hit Baton Rouge 8 to 7. Both teams committed one error in the game.

Christopher Courville started on the mound for the Bears. Chris pitched five and one-third innings, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out four. TJ. Thomas Jr pitched one and two-thirds innings in relief for the Bears and earned the victory.

Bears Highlights:

Nathan Beyer went 1 for 3

William Veillon had 1 RBI

Blaise Foote went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs

Cameron Guitreau went 2 for 3

Parker Autry went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI

With the victory, the Bears improve to 12-13 on the season.

The Bears will be back in action Thursday March 5 when they travel to Beaumont to take on South Suburban College. Game time is 2 pm at Lamar University.
