BRCC Loses Two at Mississippi Gulf Coast

BRCC Loses Two at Mississippi Gulf Coast

BRCC traveled east to face Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for a twinbill on Tuesday.

In the first game, Jon Jones started strong on the mound, holding the Bulldogs scoreless in the first two innings. Things changed in the third inning, when Jones gave up a single and a home run, the Bears faced a 2-0 deficit.

Jones lasted four innings, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks.

BRCC could not get any offense against MGCCC managing only three hits in the 5-0 defeat. Tyler Laporte, Joseph Domingue and Hunter David each finished the game with a single.

In game two, BRCC was able to produce more runs, but the outcome was not better.

Baton Rouge began the scoring in the second inning with two, solo home runs by Domingue and Michael Smith

Despite the lack of offense, BRCC led MGCCC 4-3 in the sixth. With two outs in the inning and the bases loaded, the Bears allowed a walk that tied the game.

MGCCC would then single to left and take a two run lead. After BRCC was unable to score in the seventh inning, the Bears dropped game two 6-4.

David and Mossy Mueller each finished with a single. Over the course of two games, BRCC finished with five singles and two solo home runs.

BRCC fell to 5-8 on the season. The Bears are back on the road this Thursday, traveling to Hinds Community College for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 3:00 pm.
