Lady Bears fall to Kilgore in Bossier Classic

January 1, 2019: Women's Basketball

Bossier City, LA

The Lady Bears last played a game 22 days ago and they were unable to knock off all the rust, as they fall to the Kilgore Lady Rangers, in the Bossier Parish Classic.  Kilgore defeats Baton Rouge by the score of 72 to 45.

Baton Rouge came out very sluggish, in the first quarter, only scoring 13 points compared to 20, by Kilgore.  Kilgore used their rebounding advantage to get multiple second chance shots to help extend their lead over the Lady Bears.  The Lady Bears were out of sync, on the offensive end,  for much of the first half.  At the half, Kilgore Lady Rangers led 38 to 19.

In the second half, the Lady Bears were a bit more consistent on the offensive side of the ball but turnovers, missed rebounds and second chance opportunities helped the Lady Rangers extend their lead and eventually defeat the Lady Bears.

Kilgore Lady Rangers were led in scoring by Sarah Mgbeike with 12 points.  The Lady Bears were led by Desrael Schnyder and Kayla Watson who each scored 12 points.

Kilgore improves to a record of 9- 4 while Baton Rouge falls to 5-8 overall on the season.
