Lady Bears Fight but Fall to Lady Bengals

Lady Bears Fight but Fall to Lady Bengals

Wednesday February 21, 2018: Women's Basketball

Euince, LA

It was a team effort for the Lady Bears, with all Bears contributing tonight, but it was not enough  as LSUE takes down the Lady Bears 67 to 59. The Lady Bears fought through some earlier adversity as Kayla Watson was hit with two quick fouls and had to sit most of the first quarter.  After one quarter,  Baton Rouge held a 22 to 18 lead over LSUE.  LSUE used a very loud and emotional crowd to close the gap at halftime to within four points.  The halftime score was BRCC 36 and LSUE 32.  Lady Bengals came out in the third quarter and forced the Lady Bears into multiple turnovers which gave them  the momentum. It was a back and forth game throughout the second half, with each team trading leads.  At the end of the third quarter, the score was LSUE 50 and BRCC 46. BRCC would close the gap to two points, 52-50 with 2 minutes left in the fourth quarter.  LSUE would then pull away and BRCC would miss some shots and was forced to foul. BRCC had 26 turnovers compared to LSUE's 21 turnovers. BRCC shot 36 % from the floor, while LSUE shot 50 % from the floor.

LSUE improves to a record of 21- 3 and 8-0 in conference. Baton Rouge falls to 9-14 and 4-3 in conference.
