Lady Bears win this afternoon 74 to 66 over the Houston Community College Lady Eagles. The first quarter was a bit sloppy for both team. Lady Eagles jumped out to an earlier 5 to 2 lead. It was a back and forth quarter, coming to a close with a Lady Eagles one point lead over the Lady Bears 15 to 14. During the second quarter, the Lady Bears grabbed the lead and extended it. The Lady Eagles tied the game with 2:43 to play, in the second quarter, at 22. BRCC then went on a 12 to 4 run, to take a 34 to 26 lead into halftime. Once again, the Lady Bears came out ,in the third quarter, a bit sluggish. Lady Eagles tied the game at 36 with 5:54 remaining in the third quarter. Houston took a three point lead at the end of the third quarter with a three point shot,as the buzzer went off, to close the period. Tremeeka Spikes gave the Lady Bears their first lead, in the fourth quarter, with a bucket and a foul. The score with 8:44 left in the fourth quarter was Lady Bears 52 and Lady Eagles 51. Harlee Doucet hit a big three point shot to extend the Lady Bears lead to 61 to 55. During the last five minutes of the game BRCC outscored Houston 13 to 11. Final Score was BRCC Lady Bears 74 and Houston CC Lady Eagles 66. BRCC shot 44 % from the floor compared to Houston's 37 %. BRCC also shot 76% from the free throw line. The Lady Bears had a positive assist to turnover ratio with 19 assist and only 15 turnovers. However, BRCC did lose the rebound edge to Houston 37 to 34. This is the third win on the season for the BRCC Lady Bears.
Lady Bears Highlights
Celica Sterling led all Bears with 26 points. She also had 3 assist and 2 steals
Kayla Watson added 17 points including 9 for 11 from the free throw line. Kayla had 15 rebounds and 4 steals
Harlee Doucet added 12 points which included 3 for 5 from the three point line. She had 4 assist and 1 steal
Tremeeka Spikes added 10 points and 6 rebounds
Mariah Jones had 7 assist
The Lady Bears will be back in action this Monday January 15, at home in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center, when they take on Louisiana College JV at 5:30 pm
