Kilgore uses second half surge to beat the Lady Bears

The BRCC Lady Bears took on the Kilgore Lady Rangers ,on Tuesday evening, in the first day of the Bossier Parish Community College Classic.   It was a tail of two halves for the Lady Bears.  In the first half, the Lady Bears played the Lady Rangers extremely close.  The first quarter score was Kilgore 12 and BRCC 11.  The Lady Bears played good defense and was closing out on the Kilgore shooters in the first half.  The halftime score was Kilgore 23 and BRCC 21.  The third quarter is where Kilgore broke the game open.  The Lady Rangers out scored the Lady Bears in the third quarter 31 to 13.  Kilgore hit 6 three pointers in the quarter.  Kilgore's Richelle Velez led the Lady Rangers with 25 points which included 7 three point buckets.  Jade Thurmon, of Kilgore, had 23 points, which included, 13 in the third quarter alone.  Kilgore shot 41% from the field and 33 % from the three point line, while BRCC shot 40 % from the field and was 3 for 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Bears committed 20 turnovers compared to the Lady Rangers 13. On a positive note the Lady Bears held the rebound edge over Kilgore and also had 18 assist in the game.  Everyone on this young bears squad contributed in some way to tonight's game. Kilgore College improves their season record to 9 and 3 while the Lady Bears fall to 2 and 9.

 

 

Lady Bears Highlights:

Tremeeka Spikes led all Lady Bears in scoring with 21 points off the bench and 9 rebounds

Celica Sterling scored 11 points, 5 Rebounds, 5 Assist and 2 steals

Harlee Doucet and Mariah Jones each had 6 points

 

Lady Bears will take on the host school ,Bossier Parish Community College,on Wednesday January 3, 2018 at 5 pm , in the conclusion of the Bossier Parish Classic.
