Sophomores shine in season finale with Bossier Parish

Baton Rouge Lady Bears split the season finale with the Bossier Parish Lady Cavs, this afternoon at Oak Villa Park. The Lady Bears walk off with the game one victory 5 to 4, in nine innings, but fall 12 to 7, in game two.

The Lady Bears would score first with one run, in the second inning, via a homerun by Sophomore Payge Hebert. Bossier Parish would get on the board and tie the game, in the sixth inning.  The game was tied at one at the end of regulation. Bossier would explode for three runs, in the ninth, to take a 4 to 1 lead over the Lady Bears.  Baton Rouge did not fold as they would score four runs,in the ninth inning, capped off with a single by Blayne Pence to drive in the game winner. The inning would start with back to back walks by Payge Hebert and Allie Vincent   Bossier would turn a double play putting the Lady Bears' backs against the wall with two outs.  Kelsey Cifreo would single scoring Vincent.  Savanna Orgeron would walk and Hallie Autin would reach on an error. Blayne Pence would then hit a shot up the middle scoring Savanna and Hallie to win the game.

 

Baton Rouge outhit Bossier 9 to 3.

Bailey Duhon earned the victory on the mound for the Lady Bears. Bailey pitched nine innings allowing four runs on three hits while striking out four. Jenna James took the loss for the Lady Cavs.  She was responsible for giving up the game winning hit.

 

Game 1 Lady Bears Highlights:

Savanna Orgeron went 1 for 4 with 1BB and 1 Run

Hallie Autin went 1 for 5 with 1 Run

Blayne Pence went 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs

Payge Hebert went 2 for 2 with 1 Run, 1BB and 1RBI including a homer 

Allie Vincent went 1 for 3 with 1 Run

Kelsey Cifreo went 1 for 4 with 1 Run and 1 RBI

 

Game two was a battle of the offenses, as the Lady Cavs would out hit and out score the Lady Bears to take the 12 to 7 victory. Bossier would score first with one run in the first, to grab the early lead.  They would add another run, in the third inning. The Lady Bears would tie the game at two, in the third, with a two run home run by sophomore Hallie Autin.  Baton Rouge would take a two run lead, in the fourth inning, when Krystal Stubbs would single scoring Laylle and Vincent, who both reached on an error. Bossier Parish would explode for six runs, in the fifth, to take a 8 to 4 lead. The Lady Bears would reposed with a two run homerun by Bailey Duhon, in the bottom of the fifth inning, but still trailed 8 to 6.  Bossier would score four more runs, in the sixth inning, to take a 12 to 6 lead.  Baton Rouge would score one run, in the seventh, via a solo homerun by Payge Hebert, her second of the day, but it was not enough to defeat the Lady Cavs.

 

Jenna James earned the victory for Bossier Parish Lady Cavs.  She allowed seven runs on eight hits while striking out nine. Kelsey Cifreo took the loss for the Lady Bears. Kelsey pitched seven innings allowing twelve runs on fourteen hits while striking out two.

Bossier out hit Baton Rouge 14 to 8.

Blayne Pence went 1 for 4

Payge Hebert went 1 for 4 with 1 Run and 1 RBI- including a homer

Haleigh Laylle went 1 for 4 with 2 Runs

Bailey Duhon went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs- including a homer

Krystal Stubbs went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs 

 

This is the season finale for the Lady Bears. They finish the season with a record of 5-41.  This also was the final game for the following Lady Bears Sophomores, Savanna Orgeron, Hallie Autin, Cori Breaux , Shelby Breaux, Shelby McDonald, Blayne Pence, Payge Hebert, Jessy Ortiz and Kelsey Cifreo
