Lady Cavs defeat Lady Bears in Bossier

Baton Rouge Lady Bears struggled to control the high powered offense of the Bossier Parish Lady Cavs as they drop a pair of games today.  Bossier wins game one 17 to 3, in five innings, and 3 to 1 in game two.

In game one, Bossier Parish Lady Cavs used the long ball to defeat the Lady Bears 17 to 3. The Lady Cavs hit four home runs, which included a grand slam. The Lady Bears got on the board first with two runs, in the first inning.  Savanna Orgeron led off with a single to centerfield. Blayne Pence would reach on an error by the Cav's third basemen .  Both Orgeron and Pence would score on a hard hit by Krystal Stubbs, who reached on an error. The Lady Cavs would tie the game, in the bottom of the first, with two runs of their own. Bossier would erupt, in the second inning, with eleven runs to take a commanding 13 to 2 lead. The Lady Bears would score a run, in the third, with a solo homerun by Bailey Duhon. Bossier would add four more runs over the next two innings to seal the 17 to 3, five inning victory.

Dorrie Cormier  earned the victory for Bossier Parish. She pitched three innings allowing three runs on four hits while striking out three. Kelsey Cifreo got the loss for the Lady Bears. Kelsey pitched four innings allowing 17 runs on 16 hits while striking out 1. 

Bossier out hit Baton Rouge 16 to 4, while they committed four errors compared to one by Baton Rouge.

 

Softball Game 1 Highlights:

Savanna Orgeron went 1 for 3 with 1 Run

Bailey Duhon went 1 for 3 with 1 Run and 1 RBI

Haleigh Laylle went 1 for 1 with 1 BB

Lauren Price went 1 for 2

 

Game two was a good old fashion pitching duel between Bossier's Kaitlyn Roth and the Lady Bears Bailey Duhon. Lady Cavs would get on the board first with one run, in the second, via a homer by Ally Klein. The Lady Bears would tie the game with a run of their own and their only run of the game, in the third inning. Cori Breaux would lead off the inning with a single and score on a sac fly by Blayne Pence. The Lady Cavs would untie the game, in the fourth, with a lead off homer by Abi Cole. They would add an insurance run also, in the fourth, to take a 3 to 1 lead over the Lady Bears in which they would not relinquish.

Kaityln Roth earned the victory for the Lady Cavs as she pitched seven innings allowing one run one two hits while striking out six. Bailey Duhon took the loss for the Lady Bears. Bailey pitched six innings allowing three runs on four hits while striking out seven.

Bossier out hit Baton Rouge 4 to 2 while they committed two errors compared to one for Baton Rouge.

 

Softball Game 2: Highlights:

Blayne Pence has 1 RBI

Payge Hebert went 1 for 3

Cori Breaux went 1 for 3 with 1 Run

 

The Lady Bears will be back in action tomorrow April 11, when they take on the Jones County Lady Bobcats in a doubleheader starting at 3 pm at Oak Villa Park.
