It was the end of an era for the Bears baseball program as Coach LJ Dupuy coached his final game at Pete Goldsby Field. His team added a bit of drama to the day, as they would win, in the eleventh inning, in walk off fashion. The Baton Rouge Bears defeated the Nunez Pelicans, in a conference matchup, 5 to 4.
The Bears opened the game with a lead-off homerun by William Veillon to take the early lead. The lead would be short lived as Nunez would lead off, the second inning, with a homerun by J. Allen to tie the game. Nunez would score a run, in the third, to take a two to one lead. Again, the lead would be short lived as this time the Bears would tie the game at two with a run in the bottom of the inning. William Veillon would single to left field and score on a sac fly by Cameron Crawford. Nunez would strike for two runs, in the fifth inning, to take a 4 to 2 lead over the Bears. The Bears would rally, in the eighth inning, to tie the game at four. Donavon Murray would lead off the inning with a single to left field and he would score on a Cameron Crawford triple. Crawford would score on that same play, by an error on the Nunez's shortstop. The game was tied at the end of regulation forcing extra innings. The drama would start in the eleventh inning when Samuel Jarrell would single up the middle, Jordin Labruzza would draw a walk and Nunez would intentionally walk Will Veillon to load the bases. Luis Marmolejos would be hit by a pitch driving in the winning run for the Bears. Baton Rouge wins the LCCAC conference game by the final score of 5 to 4.
Jordy Adams earned the victory for the Bears. Jordy pitched two innings allowing zero runs on zero hits while striking out one. Tristin Cosby started the game on the mound for the Bears. Tristin pitched three innings allowing two runs on one hit while striking out six. Evan Becnel, Joseph Battaglia III, Konner Leon, Christopher Sagrera and Braxton Dufrene all pitched in relief for the Bears.
Layton Lee took the loss for Nunez. Cameron Daigle started the game for Nunez and he went five inning allowing two runs on four hits while striking out four.
The Bears improve to 6-5 in conference play while Nunez falls to 2-9.

Luke Lancon went 1 for 4 with 1 Run
Donavon Murray went 1 for 1 with 1Run
Cameron Crawford went 2 for 4 with 1 Run and 1RBI
Thomas Garber went 1 for 3
Samuel Jarrell went 1 for 4 with 1 Run
Before the game BRCC recognized 21 young men for all their hard work, dedication and sacrifice to the program over the past two years. Those sophomores include: Donavon Murray, Konner Leon,Cameron Crawford,Kendall Kennedy, Evan Becnel, Samuel Jarrell, Kolby Blanchard, Bo Barrilleaux, Tristin Cosby,Jacob Jensen, Joseph Battaglia III, William Garrett Smith, Garrison Beiriger, Brett Fisackerly, Christopher Sagrera, Mitchel Lemoine,Matthew Eskew, Trevor Benoit, Salvador Lusco, Jacob Cyr and Braxton Dufrene.
The Bears will be back in action tomorrow Monday May 6, as they finish the regular season,in Chalmette versus the Nunez Pelicans at 5 pm.
