Bears drop two to #4 Jones County

The Baton Rouge Bears drop a pair of games today to the #4 Jones County Bobcats. Jones defeats Baton Rouge 7 to 3, in game one, and 12 to 7, in game two.

In game one, Jones would get on the board first with four runs, in the second inning, to take an early lead. Baton Rouge would score their first run of the game in the fifth inning. Kendall Kennedy would walk, steal second, advance to third on a wild pitch and score on a Cameron Guitreau single to center field. Jones would add a run to their lead in the sixth to make it 5 to 1. Baton Rouge would score another run in the eighth, when Cody Crifasi would single and score on a Samuel Jarrell sacrifice fly. Jones would score two more, in the eighth, when B Hale would hit a two run homer to left field to increase their lead to 7 to 2. Baton Rouge would try to make things happen, in the ninth, but they could only mustard one run thus falling to Jones County 7 to 3.

 

Cade Morgan got the victory for Jones County.  He pitched seven innings allowing one run on five hits while striking out six. Trevor Benoit got the loss for Baton Rouge. Trevor pitched five innings, allowing four runs on three hits. Jacob Cyr, and Konner Leon both threw in relief for the Bears.

 

Bears Game 1 Highlights:

Luke Lancon went 2 for 5 with 1 RBI

Cameron Crawford went 3 for 5

Samuel Jarrell went 1 for 3 with 1 RBI

Bo Barrilleaux went 1 for 4 with 1 Run

Cameron Guitreau went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI

 

Game two was delayed nearly two hours because of a pipe burst, but when the game started Jones would come out on top with a 12 to 7 victory over Baton Rouge.

 

The Bears will be back in action this weekend when they begin their home, away, home weekend series with the #1 LSUE Bengals.  Game one of the series will be at Pete Goldsby Field on Friday March 15 at 6 pm.  Game two will move to Euince, Louisiana on Saturday March 16 at 6 pm at Bengals Field.  Game three will be back at Pete Goldsby Field on Sunday March 17 at 2 pm.
