Hinds Eagles shutout Bears

Hinds Eagles shutout Bears

Friday March 8, 2019: Baseball

Baton Rouge, La

The Hinds Community College Eagles were too much for the Bears this afternoon as they defeat them, by the final score of 15 to 0, in seven innings.

Hinds would score first with two runs, in the first, to take the early lead that they would not relinquish. A strong pitching performance by P. Johnson had the Bears' offense out of sync all game.  Hinds would score three more in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 7 to 0 lead after four. The Eagles would explode for six runs in the sixth to really break the game open.  Hinds would add two more runs, in the seventh, to take the 15 to 0 run rule victory.

P. Johnson got the victory for the Eagles. Tanner Young got the loss for the Bears. Tanner pitched three innings allowing five runs on five hits, while striking out two but walking four. Trevor Benoit, Jacob Jensen, Cooper Strong and William Garrett Smith all pitched in relief for the Bears.

The Eagles out hit the Bears 11 to 3.

Bears Highlights:

Mitchel Lemoine went 1 for 2

Cody Crifasi went 1 for 2
