A late rally by the Lady Bears comes up short as the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs would take a 59 to 57 victory, this afternoon in the Bears Den.

In the first quarter, both teams went back and forth with each team trading buckets and the lead. At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bears had a 19 to 17 advantage over the Lady Bulldogs. In the second quarter, the Lady Bears would hold the Lady Bulldogs to only five second quarter points. The Lady Bears would outscore the Lady Bulldogs 12 to 5, in the second quarter, to take a 31 to 22 lead into the half.

For the third straight game the Lady Bears came out of the locker room, at the half, a bit sluggish. The Lady Bulldogs would go on a 15 to 6 run to tie the game at 37 with 2:09 left, in the third quarter. The Lady Bulldogs would finish the quarter on an 8-2 run to take a 45 to 39 lead heading into the final quarter.

The Lady Bulldogs would take a seven-point lead over the Lady Bears with- 3:31 left to play. The Lady Bears would pull within one on a corner three pointer by Carlasia Moore; 58-57 with 6.1 seconds left. Holmes would seal the game from the free throw line making 1 of 2 to take the 59 to 57 victory this afternoon over the Lady Bears.

With the loss Baton Rouge falls to 0-5, while Homes improves to 5-2 on the season. Holmes now leads the overall series with 12 wins and 7 losses.

Lady Bears Highlights:

Carlasia Moore led all Lady Bears with 18 points, 7 assist and 2 rebounds.

J'nyria Kelly scored 11 points with 15 rebounds,1 assist and 1 steal.

Olivia Davis added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 1 assist off the bench.

The Lady Bears will be back in action as they travel to Monroeville, Alabama on Monday November 20, 2023, to take on the Costal Alabama North Coyotes at 5 pm.
