Lady Bears fall to Lady Warriors on the Road

Baton Rouge Lady Bears struggled to handle the East Central's pressure, as they would again have a poor second half shooting performance, thus losing the game 70 to 48 to the East Central Lady Warriors, this evening in the Bracken-Wood Gymnasium.

The Lady Bears led after the first quarter 14 to  11. Keaira Gross scored eight of the Lady Bears 14, first quarter points.  East Central outscored Baton Rouge 19 to 12, in the second quarter, to take a 30 to 26 lead at the half.

The Lady Bears struggled offensively, in the third quarter, as they would be outscored by the Lady Warriors 20 to 10. At the end of the third quarter, the Lady Warriors had a 50 to 36 lead over the Lady Bears. The Lady Warriors would continue their pressure forcing the Lady Bears into a game high 37 turnovers. The Lady Warriors would outscore the Lady Bears 20-12, in the fourth quarter, leading them to the 70 to 48 victory over the Lady Bears.

Baton Rouge was led in scoring by J'nyria Kelly with 10 points. East Central was led in scoring by Shay Hunter with 19 points. The Lady Warriors had 4 student athletes score in double figures.

Baton Rouge falls to 0-4, while East Central improves to 5-0 on the season. East Central leads the overall series record 4-1. 

 

Lady Bear Highlights:

J'nyria Kelly had a team high 10 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block

Keaira Gross added 9 points, 3 assist and 3 steals

Haley Lavergne scored 7 points with 6 rebounds and 1 assist

 

The Lady Bears will return home this Saturday November 18 to take on the Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs at 2 pm in the Bears Den.
