Saturday November 4, 2023: Women's Basketball

The Lady Bears could not find any rhythm on the offensive end throughout the afternoon, thus falling 73 to 44, in the final game of the Lady Bear Classic to the Mississippi Delta Lady Trojans.

The Lady Trojans jumped out to a quick start as they would outscore the Lady Bears 8-0, in the first three minutes of the quarter. Carlaisa Morre got the Lady Bears on the board with a jumper with 6:56 to go in the quarter. At the end of the first quarter, The Lady Trojan led the Lady Bears 22 to 13.

In the second quarter, the Lady Bears struggled to contain the Lady Trojans on the offensive end of the floor as they would grow their lead to thirteen; 32-19 with 3:52 to go in the quarter. The Lady Bears struggled with the Lady Trojans full court pressure and struggled to limit the Lady Trojans to one possession per trip down.  The Lady Trojans took advantage of the Lady Bears turnovers and outrebounded the Lady Bears in the first half. At the half, the Lady Trojans led the Lady Bears 45 to 19.

The Lady Bears came out for the third quarter a bit sluggish on both ends of the floor. The Lady Trojans would outscore the Lady Bears 17 to 8 in the quarter to take a 62-27 lead.

Baton Rouge found a bit of life, in the fourth quarter, as they would outscore Mississippi Delta 17 to 1 but it was not enough as the Lady Trojans would defeat the Lady Bears 73 to 44, this afternoon in the Bears Den.

The Lady Bears fell to 0-2, while the Lady Trojans improved to 2-0 on the young season. Baton Rouge still holds the series record at 6-4.

Lady Bear Highlights

Carlasia Moore led all Lady Bears with 14 points, 5 rebounds,1 assist and 1 steal.

Olivia Davis added 8 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist off the bench.

J'nyria Kelly scored 7 points with 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.

The Bears will hit the road for the first time, this season, to take on the Bishop State Lady Wildcats on Monday November 6, 2023 at 5:30 pm in the Fredericka G Evans Cultural Center.
