Solid Defense propels the  Lady Bears to the W !

A solid first and fourth quarter for the Baton Rouge Lady Bears leads them to a 68 to 61 victory over the Bossier Parish Lady Cavs, this evening in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.

In the first quarter, the Lady Bears turned up the pressure on defense, which forced the Lady Cavs to be out of sync on the offensive end. The Lady Bears turned their aggressive defensive pressure into turnovers and transition buckets. After the game was tied at 9 with 2:34 in the quarter, the Lady Bears would go on a 10 to 4 run to close out the quarter and take a 19 to 13 lead.

In the second quarter, the Lady Cavs would fight back and tie the game at 21 with 4:19 left in the quarter. The Lady Bears would continue their aggressive defense and limit the Lady Cavs second chance opportunities. At the half, the Lady Bears led 31 to 28.

The third quarter was a back-and-forth contest between the two team. Baton Rouge would outscore Bossier Parish 12 to 11. At the end of the quarter, the Lady Bears led 43 to 39

Like the second quarter, the Lady Cavs would battle back and tie the game at 52 with 3:22 left to play in the game. After the game was tied at 52 the Lady Bears would lock down on defense again and would go on a 16 to 9 run to end the game. Bossier would get as close as four points with 33 seconds left;63-59 but the Alanna Donaldson and Angel Bradford would combine to make 5 of 6 free throws to seal the victory. The Baton Rouge Lady Bears would earn the 68 to 61 victory over the Bossier Parish Lady Cavs tonight with great hustle and a dominate defense for 40 minutes.

Alanna Donaldson led the Lady Bears with a game high 24 points while the Lady Cavs were led in scoring by Faith Robinson with 16 points.

With the victory Baton Rouge improves to 2-2 while Bossier Parish falls to 3-2 on the season.

Alanna Donaldson led the Lady Bears with 24 points with 2 rebounds, 2 assist and 1 steal

Angel Bradford scored 16 points with 2 rebounds and 3 steals

Tronayia Issac and An' Tiesha Griffin added 9 points each

 

The Lady Bears will be back in action this Saturday November 20, 2021, at 2 pm versus the Copiah-Lincoln Lady Wolves in the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.
