East Central Lady Warriors Defeat Lady Bears in Classic

East Central Lady Warriors Defeat Lady Bears in Classic

Saturday November 2, 2019: Women's Basketball

Baton Rouge, LA

Baton Rouge Lady Bears could not overcome the hot shooting performance by the East Central Lady Warriors, as they drop game two of the Lady Bear Classic, by the final score of 68 to 33.  East Central's defensive pressure caused the Lady Bears to be out of sync for most of the game.  The Lady Warriors took advantage of some Lady Bears miscues to jump out to an early 19 to 5 first quarter lead, in which they would never relinquish. The Lady Warriors took a 35 to 13 advantage into halftime. In the second half, the Lady Bears continued to struggle to contain the high powered offense of the Lady Warriors. Baton Rouge was outscored, in the second half, 33 to 20.   The very young Lady Bears squad committed twenty turnovers, on the afternoon, giving East Central multiple chances for transition buckets. It's still early in the season and Lady Bears Head Coach Paua Lee is very optimistic that her young squad can gel together and come up with some victories down the road.

Lady Bears Highlights:

Bailey Antoine led all Lady Bears with 7 points

Ivy Carr added 6 points

A'Zia Reed scored 5 points

Other Lady Bear Classic Notes: In the first game of day two of the Lady Bear Classic, Pensacola State College Lady Pirates held off a late rally by the LSUE Lady Bengals to take the 77 to 69 victory.  In game two, the Southwest Mississippi Lady Bears defeated Illinois Central College 79 to 60.

The  Lady Bears will be back in action on Tuesday November 5, 2019, as they travel to Bay Minette Alabama to take on Coastal Alabama South at 5:30 pm.
