Tuesday March 12, 2019: Women's Basketball

Lady Bears sophomore  Kayla Watson was named 2018-2019 Louisiana Community College Athletic Player of the Year.  Kayla is a guard from Amite, Louisiana.  She averaged 17.7 points and 8 rebounds per game in conference.  For the season, she averaged 17.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.  Earlier in the season, Kayla signed a full scholarship to continue her athletic and academic career at Southern University.

Lady Bears Head Coach Paula Lee had the following to say about Kayla Watson being named LCCAC Player of the Year:

"It is truly an honor and a blessing for Kayla Watson to be named LCCAC Player of the Year.  As a coach, you know what your players are capable of doing on the court, but when other coaches in the conference recognize you as the "PLAYER OF THE YEAR," that speaks volumes of what they think about you as a player.  Kayla Watson has truly represented the women's basketball program, BRCC and her family well.  I am extremely proud of her and thankful that I have had the pleasure to not only coach her the past two years, but to also watch her grow as a student, a player and a young lady.  Congratulations to Kayla Watson as she takes her talents to Southern University for the next two years."
