Lady Bears win in comeback fashion !

It was a nail biter of a game but this time the Baton Rouge Lady Bears came out on top.  They defeat the Hinds Lady Bulldogs, by the score of 65 to 61, this afternoon in the Bonne Santé Wellness Center.

At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bears held a 14 to 12 lead over the Lady Bulldogs.  In the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs turned up the pressure and forced the Lady Bears into unforced turnovers.  Baton Rouge went ice cold from the field only scoring two points, in the quarter.  At the half, Hinds led 29 to 16.

At halftime, Coach Lee challenged her kids to fight and follow the game plan laid out for them.

In the third quarter, the Lady Bears turned up the pressure and forced the Lady Bulldogs into some turnovers that led to some transition baskets for the Lady Bears.  Baton Rouge forced Hinds to deviate from their offensive game plan which caused them to struggle, in the third quarter.  Baton Rouge outscored Hinds 21 to 17, in the quarter,  but Hinds still led 46 to 37.  The fourth quarter was sparked by key shots by Sydney Martin, and Tronayia Issac. Also, some key steals and transition buckets by Kayla Watson and AH'Million Cosby.  The Lady Bears tied the game at 49, with a three pointer by AH'Million Cosby and took the lead with a bucket by Kayla Watson.  With 5.55 left to go in the game, Baton Rouge took their first lead of the game since early, in the second quarter, 51 to 49. Hinds tried to play spoiler but were denied, in the end.  The Lady Bears held on for a 65 to 61 victory.

AH'Million Cosby led Baton Rouge in scoring with 15, while Hinds was led by Nakaylis Washington with 18.

With the win the Lady Bears improve to 4-7 overall, while Hinds Lady Bulldogs falls to 3-2.

Lady Bears Highlights:

AH'Million Cosby led the Lady Bears with 15 points.  She also had four rebounds.

Kayla Watson scored 14 points with 1 rebound, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

Desrael Schnyder added 13 points

Sydney Martin scored 10 points including 2 big corners three's

 

The Lady Bears will take some time off for final exams.  They will be back in action on Monday December 10 as they travel to Mobile, Alabama to take on Bishop State. Tip is set for 5:30 pm.
