2018-19 Lady Bears Schedule is Tough

2018-19 Lady Bears Schedule is Tough

October 23, 2018

Baton Rouge, LA - The 2018-19 season marks the start of Coach Lee's ninth year at the helm.  She is driven and motivated to get the Lady Bears program back to its winning ways. Lee is extremely excited about another season with the Lady Bears; however, with twelve new faces, she knows that there will be a fair share of highs and lows. This year's squad brings a competitive nature back to the court, with their love for competition and their refusal to back down. Even though the Lady Bears will be young, they will rely on the leadership and experience of three sophomores, Mariah Jones, Kayla Watson and Harlee Doucet,  to bring back the up tempo- aggressive style of play that made the Lady Bears successful in the past.

The regular season starts off with the annual Lady Bear Classic, which gives this new and young group an opportunity to play some tough competition, in a comfortable environment. This year's field pits the Lady Bears against Bossier Parish and Angelina College. The road journey begins in the Southwest Mississippi Classic, in which the Lady Bears will face a pair of region 23 opponents in Co-lin and Southwest Mississippi. Sandwiched in between the Southwest Mississippi and Mississippi Delta tournaments is a Region 23 showdown with Holmes Community College, at home, on November 16. After the Mississippi Delta Tournament, the Lady Bears will stay on the road for games, at Bossier Parish and Holmes Community College on November 27 and November 29, respectfully. Your last chance to catch the Lady Bears, at home, in the fall semester, will be December 1 against Hinds Community College. They will wrap up 2018, with a road contest against Bishop State in Mobile, Alabama.  The New Year will start off with a road contest against Panola, in the Bossier Parish Classic, on January 1.  The Lady Bears will play the next 4 out of 5 games at home, in the Bonne Santé Wellness Center, starting against Mississippi Delta on January 3.  Their only road game will be at Itawamba Community College on January 8. Without a doubt the non-conference schedule is challenging, but Coach Lee is excited about the energy and effort this young group puts forth each and every morning in the weight room and on the court.

The tough non-conference schedule always prepares the Lady Bears for conference play, which begins on January 30, 2019 versus LSU-Eunice at home. The conference season will be a mixture of 9 games with 4 of those games being at home, in front of our home fans.  Lee says that it is always her goal to play quality opponents throughout the year because it gives her and her staff a good indication of where the team is and where the team needs to get to, before competing for a Conference Championship.

Come out and cheer on your Lady Bears as they look to regain their championship swagger of years past.
